Arrival of your flight at Kigali International Airport. Meet and greet assistance. You will be handed over to and warmly welcomed by our Prosper safaris representative outside customs and immigration hall. Transfer to your city hotel for check in. Dinner is served at the main restaurant using the ala carte plan. Overnight stay.

RADISSON BLU HOTEL (HB – Dinner, Bed and Breakfast)

09h30: After breakfast at the hotel, you will be briefed on your tour then proceed to Nyamirambo sector in Nyarugenge for a half day guided walking tour.

This is the biggest and most vibrant township in Rwanda, which is the oldest area in Kigali. The tour has a wealth of historic and cultural experiences to offer the enthusiastic visitor. Get a firsthand experience of urban life in Kigali, while contributing to local women’s development. The tour gives an insight to visitors about the everyday life, social events, trade and struggles of a variety of different cultural and religious groups that live in this crowded lively neighborhood.

Highlight: After the 1994 unspeakable awfulness, several burial places in the country were established as memorial sites. They include Murambi Genocide Memorial Centre located 2km north of Nyamagabe District and the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Centre (Kigali Genocide Memorial) where 250,000 genocide victims were buried. Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide; learn about other genocides in the world and how this country has dealt with that past. 

Lunch will be at the Sole Luna restaurant. 14h30: Visit Kigali Genocide memorial, followed by Inema Arts Centre.

Return to the hotel in the evening. Dinner and overnight.

THE RADISSON BLU HOTEL (FB – Lunch (Sole Luna Restaurant), Dinner, Bed and Breakfast)

07h30: After breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and proceed to Akagera national park. Upon arrival at the park headquarters, you will have a briefing and will be introduced to your park guide. You will then embark on a game viewing drive in the park until 13h30. Transfer to the lodge for check in and lunch.

The game drive in Akagera National Park provides you with the opportunity to view gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies. You will visit the Giraffe area in the south and the lakes road up towards Birengero. Akagera National park is a home for animals like elephant buffalo, Giraffe, zebra and more than a dozen types of antelope inhabit the park, most commonly the handsome chestnut-coated impala, but also the diminutive oribi and secretive bushbuck, as well as the ungainly tsessebe and the world’s largest antelope, the statuesque Cape eland.

15h30: Depart for afternoon game drive in the park. Return to the lodge before sunset.

Dinner and overnight stay.

RUZIZI TENTED CAMP – FB (Lunch, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast)

Today after your breakfast, you will go for a boat excursion on Lake Ihema, which will take you to the island that is inhabitant to several species of birds. Lining the lakes are some of the continent’s densest concentrations of water birds, while the connecting marshes are the haunt of the endangered and exquisite papyrus gonolek, and the bizarre shoebill stork – the latter perhaps the most eagerly sought of all African birds.

After your boat excursion, you will return to the lodge for your lunch.

In the afternoon, you will have another game drive in the park. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

RUZIZI TENTED CAMP – FB (Lunch, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast)

Day 5: AKAGERA- KIGALI (02h30 DRIVE) / KIGALI – MUSANZE (02h30 DRIVE)

Early Breakfast at the lodge. Check out and drive to KIGALI. Arrive and have lunch stop at Khana Kazana Restaurant. This afternoon, proceed to MUSANZE and VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK. Arrive in the evening and check in at the lodge.

Dinner and overnight stay.

VOLCANOES VIRUNGA LODGE (FB I.e. Lunch (Khana Kazana restaurant), Dinner, Bed and Breakfast, a selection of drinks)

Early breakfast at the lodge then proceed to the park headquarters in time for Gorilla Trek briefing at 07h00.

We will then transfer you to the start point of your guided walk that begins at 08h00. Here, your amazing adventure begins.

Volcanoes National Park protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range and is the home of the rare mountain gorilla and the rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp and heath, but the high point will be spending an hour with the remarkably peaceful gorillas despite their size and appearance as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting and raising their young. After this memorable experience, return to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon is at leisure to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Dinner and overnight stay.

VOLCANOES VIRUNGA LODGE (FB I.e. Lunch, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast, a selection of drinks)

Rise early in the morning and breakfast at the lodge. Proceed to the Park’s headquarters for briefing about your trek. You will then be transferred by vehicle to the start point of the guided walk that begins at 08h00 in search of the Golden Monkeys.

Trekking to see the golden monkeys is another highlight of Volcanoes National Park. The Golden Monkey (Cercopithecus Mitis Kandti) is a local subspecies of the widespread Sykes Monkey, also known as the “Blue Monkey” and is endemic to the high altitude forests. There are two habituated groups of Golden Monkey, one group comprises around 80 – 100 members and has its home at the foot of Mt Sabyinyo. As with treks to see the Mountain Gorillas, treks to see the Golden Monkeys take place in the mornings and visitors are permitted to stay for 1 hour with the monkeys. The number of visitors is not limited.

After this memorable experience, you will proceed to Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for lunch.

This afternoon at 15h30 – You will visit the Ibyi Iwacu village for a cultural experience.

Ibyi Iwacu is changing the traditional perception of what constitutes tourism by turning fate into fame through sharing various aspects of rural cultures and livelihoods into tourist attractions and creating income-generating activities for rural poor people that have reformed from living on bush meat and poaching for generations.

Return to the lodge in the evening. Dinner and overnight.

VOLCANOES VIRUNGA LODGE (FB I.e. Lunch, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast, a selection of drinks)

08h00: After breakfast at the hotel, check out. Have a leisurely scenic drive to GISENYI and LAKE KIVU. Arrive at around 09h00. Drive around and discover the town of Gisenyi. You will also drive to the border post of Rwanda and DRC. This is very busy and colorful town. We will not cross. Transfer to your hotel overlooking Lake Kivu. Check in, followed by lunch. This afternoon, you will do some kayaking in Lake Kivu.

After this wonderful experience, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

LAKE KIVU SERENA HOTEL (FB- Lunch, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast)

After an early breakfast at your hotel at 07h00, you will check out. Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park, where the largest montane forest East and Central Africa is found. The heart of Nyungwe Forest is like a scene from a fairy tale. Tall old mahoganies, ebonies and giant tree ferns tower above you, whilst orchids and other epiphytes cling to every branch. Brightly colored birds flit around; butterflies are everywhere, including a variety of primates for which Nyungwe National Park is renowned.

Arrive and check in at the lodge, followed by early lunch.

13h45: Transfer to the park headquarters for canopy walk briefing that takes place at 14h00. Your guided canopy walk will start at 15h00.

The Canopy walkway consists of three bridges and three towers and is a total length of the walkway is 200m. The walkway is embedded in a guided tour along Igishigishigi Trail. Taking this tour, a specialized Park Guide will not only show you the forest canopy but also explain why it is an integral part of the tropical rainforest ecosystem. You will learn what the major characteristics of a rainforest and its canopy are and the importance Nyungwe Forest has for Rwanda.

Dinner and overnight stay.

NYUNGWE HOUSE BY ONE & ONLY (All Inclusive- Lunch, Dinner, Bed and breakfast, a selection of drinks)

Today at 05h00 you will get your packed breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for chimpanzee trek briefing and formalities and then to the evergreen forest for a great experience that starts at 06h00. You may spot a wide variety of bird life.

Their playfulness and human – like characteristics make the long day worthwhile. Luckily you may be welcomed by chimp morning calls deep in the forest upon encountering the chimps, you will be allowed to stay in their presence for one hour as you enjoy their acrobats, feeding life and their day today behaviors.

Return to the lodge at around 12h00 for lunch.

Return to the lodge after the walk. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay.

NYUNGWE HOUSE BY ONE & ONLY (All Inclusive- Lunch, Dinner, Bed and breakfast, a selection of drinks)

Day 11: NYUNGWE – KIGALI (07h00 drive) ✈DEPART

Have breakfast at the lodge and check out. 08h00: Have a leisurely drive back to KIGALI. Stop for lunch en route at Ibis Restaurant.

Arrive in the evening and have dinner at the Heaven restaurant. Transfer to Kigali international Airport. Bid farewell to your driver guide and check in for your outbound flight.

GORILLA PERMIT NOTE:

Once permit is bought, it cannot be refunded or inter-changed. Before confirming the tour, please ensure that you request for availability of permits based on the number of participants.

NOVEMBER – MAY (PERMIT DISCOUNT):

30% discount (US$ 1,050) for combined trips within National Parks in Rwanda (Gorilla Trekking, Akagera and/or Nyungwe National Park) for at least 3 days during the months of November-May,

Passenger Information:-

– In case of non-availability, we may have to reroute and provide alternative accommodation at lodges of similar category.

– Passengers should bring only soft sided bags on safaris as our vehicles have limited luggage space

– All the passengers must have Identification Card/Passport with them throughout their travel.

TERMS OF CANCELLATION 

The parties involved shall agree the specific terms of cancellation on each case.
Under the Rwanda Legislation, the Hotels and Caterers can legally levy the following cancellation charges:-

60-46 days prior to arrival: No charge, room release

45-14 days prior to arrival: 10%

14-07 days prior to arrival: 25%

07-03 days prior to arrival: 50%
03 days-to no show : 100%

FORCE MAJEUR CIRCUMSTANCES 

In case either party suffers force majeur circumstances (that are unforeseen, inevitable and uncontrollable), such as strikes, closing of frontiers, ports and airports, bad weather, delays in departures and arrivals of the means of transportation, accidents and all services provided by a third Party, as a result of which the obligations under the present agreement cannot be fulfilled the parties shall be exonerated from their obligations without having to pay compensation for the damage caused to the other party.
