Trip Overview;
Kibale forest national park the primate capital city with over 13 primate species in one area, to Queen Elizabeth national park Uganda’s most popular national park for Uganda safaris and certainly one most scenic, to Bwindi Impenetrable national park famously, this “impenetrable forest” also protects an estimated 320 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population.
Full trip details;
Day 1: Arrival and hotel transfer.
On arrival, you will be met and received by your driver guide from Prosper safaris, who will then brief you as he transfers you to your hotel for overnight at Cassia lodge (HB). www.cassialodge.com
Day 2: Kampala – Kibale Forest National Park.
Early morning departure from your hotel/Accommodation to go to Kibale Forest National park via Fort Portal the land of the Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon, along the way you will see numerous things and see the changing landscape including the teas estates of the Kabarole. You will have your Lunch served in Fort Portal, after lunch transfer to Amabeere ga nyina mwiru (a famous cultural site attached to the Toro kingdom) and then continue to your accommodation. Day 3: Kibale Forest National Park – Chimpanzee tracking Day.
After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred just a few meters to the chimpanzee tracking information office for a pre-briefing by your ranger guides who will then lead you into the rain forest tracking these primates (Chimpanzees). These primates are very mobile and viewing them is unpredictable but a forest walk is an enriching activity that starts at 8.00 am taking about 4 hours. This forest is home to a large number of chimpanzees and other primates including L’hoestes, Red-colobuses, Blues, Red-tailed, grey cheeked mangabeys, birds, and butterflies. The guide will provide detailed explanations on not only primates but also on all the forest’s fauna and flora. This will see you return to have your lunch at Primate lodge, after lunch, transfer for a swamp/community walk to KAFRED, a local community initiative in Bigodi for yet more primate and bird watching experience with an opportunity to meet and interact with the local communities living here. Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park.
After your morning breakfast you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range most of the journey. You will have a short game drive on you way to your accommodation. Check in and relax into Lunch. After Lunch transfer to enjoy a unique two hours boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This launch cruise gives you a great opportunity for photography, bird watching and game viewing at close range. Return for a relaxed evening, dinner and overnight at Ihamba Safari Lodge (FB)
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi National Park.
After an early morning warm up tea or coffee, you will head out for a full game drive along Kasenyi tracks and Queens Mile in search of animals like: lions, elephants, cape buffalos, warthogs, spotted hyenas, mangoose, waterbucks, kobs and, if you’re lucky the leopard and about 606 bird species recorded here. Return to the Lodge for full breakfast; after your breakfast, you will transfer for a game drive to the Ishasha
sector in search of the rare tree climbing lions (however, this will depend on the road condition to Ishasha at the time of visit otherwise you may go via Ishaka) proceeding to Bwindi impenetrable gorilla forest national park. Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi.
After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the gorilla tracking information office for a pre-briefing by the ranger guides who will then lead you into the forest trekking this great relatives of ours (Gorillas). The rainforest is dense and is crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, the thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is a memorable one. Gorillas are shy and peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact with each other. After this day’s gorgeous adventure, you will return to your lodge for lunch (if not parked) and if time allows,
transfer for a short community/nature walk to see this local people’s way of life and cultures or just relax at your lodge, dinner and overnight at Ruhija gorilla lodge (FB).
Day 7: Bwindi National Park – Kampala.
After your relaxed breakfast, depart Bwindi national park back to Kampala via the Equator with an opportunity to perform a simple experiment and experience a tropical balance here before proceeding to
arrive in Kampala and then transfer to the airport for your flight out.
